Education and Community

One of our main goals for this African American Healthy Marriage Initiative Forum has been to provide a venue to the African American Community to be educated and informed on what it takes to have a healthy marriage. We have compiled, for your convenience, some articles and studies on such topics as “Premarital and Marriage Education,” “Marriage Education for Couples Becoming Parents” and “Closing the Marriage Gap.” View the section details to see these topics as well as others addressed.

Enhancing Partnerships

If you are a member of a faith-based, civic, or community organization and feel that your community is in need of a Community Healthy Marriage Initiative (CHMI), we encouraged you to view the section details. We have collected information from several sources regarding starting your own initiative. We have outlined a six-step plan for starting a CHMI and included other pertinent information to get you started and on the right track. Funding and Capacity Building Opportunities

This section includes potential technical resources that may be available to groups that are interested in beginning or strengthening an existing African American Healthy Marriage Initiative. We have also included several resources to assist you in finding and applying for federal grants to fund your cause.
